If there ever was a Wilco show to attend, it was last night at Brooklyn’s Key Span Park. But what made this particular Wilco performance better than the already awesome display that is a normal Wilco concert, you might ask? Well, not only did indie rock royalty Yo La Tengo open the show—almost reason enough to get your butt to Coney Island—but Billboard reports that, as they did with Okkervil River a week ago, Wilco brought the Hoboken-based band on stage with them during their encore. Ira Kaplan and his sea of feedback were a welcome addition to “Spiders (Kidsmoke).” This makes sense, given the noisy experimentalism of the track, something Kaplan is pretty familiar with.

But wait, there’s more. Canadian female singer-songwriter, Leslie Feist was there too. Just after what must have been a crowd-pleasing “Heavy Metal Drummer” to begin Encore 1, Feist emerged and lent her vocals to “You and I,” her duet with Jeff Tweedy from the new Wilco (The Album). After that, Grizzly Bear’s Ed Droste found his way on stage to assist Feist and Wilco in performing “California Stars” and “You Never Know.” Feist and Droste would return to add some cowbell to “Hoodoo Voodoo.” What happens in Brooklyn is awesome in Brooklyn.

Feist will join Wilco again this evening when they appear on Late Night with David Letterman to perform “You and I.” In other news, Wilco (The Album), debuted at no. 4 on the Billboard top 200, a career best for Tweedy and the boys. Released on June 30th, the album sold 99,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielson SoundScan. Yes, Wilco is walking tall.
