Rod Stewart’s latest offering, Once In A Blue Moon — The Lost Album, available now from Rhino.com, could be the Holy Grail for fans of the smokey-voiced English crooner. Once In A Blue Moon, an all-covers album recorded in 1992 with producer Trevor Horn, is a must hear for fans.

The album finds Stewart tackling songs by Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Nicks, and others.

Each of the album’s 10 songs were previously released in various countries in different mixes, but six have never been available in the U.S. in any form until now. There are also two hidden tracks – both unreleased – recorded during the album’s sessions.

According to the press release: “The reason Once In A Blue Moon was abandoned remains a mystery, but one factor could be that Stewart recorded his Unplugged…And Seated in early 1993. Released just three months later, the album sold three million copies in the U.S. alone. Whatever the reason for its disappearance, fans can celebrate that the album is here at last.”
