BIG Gear Giveback Aims To Get Nashville-Area Musicians Back On Their Feet

NAMM, Next BIG Nashville, American Songwriter, SESAC, ASCAP, Zehnder, Firefly have partnered with the Nashville Musicians Union and MusiCares to launch “The BIG Gear Giveback” a nationwide gear donation where NAMM members, gear companies and compassionate musicians have the opportunity to donate gear to working Middle Tennessee musicians who lost the tools of their livelihood during the Nashville flood last May.

Middle Tennessee musicians who lost gear can apply for donations

The Nashville Musicians Association has created a specific gear relief fund and will be working with American Songwriter and gear brands to match each musician’s needs with specific product donations. Those affected can apply for donations by uploading the specific equipment, instruments or software those lost in the flood online here: http://www.americansongspace.com/biggearbenefit

Companies can get involved by donating product & spreading the word

Gear companies, NAMM vendors, and compassionate folks wishing to donate product directly to a musician should contact [email protected] or those who will be present at Nashville Summer NAMM should bring the gear to the Convention and bring to the NMA and MusicCares.org booths.

The association will be celebrating this effort with a special showcase event, sponsored in part by Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and Zehnder Marketing, at Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville on Friday, June 18, featuring Next BIG Nashville alumni The Apache Relay and Megan McCormick and Blackfoot Gypsies.

Companies can also get involved by donating cash to the MusicCares.org Nashville Relief Fund, posting one of the following MusicCares.org Donation Banners on a company website or donating cash to the NMA -all donations will go towards a fund specifically created for Nashville Musicians. Every penny helps and getting the word out to the national audience will make a BIG difference.

Each year at the Summer NAMM Convention, hundreds of musical instrument companies gather at the Nashville Convention Center to showcase products new and old, bringing thousands of dollars worth of gear and $13 million dollars to the local economy over one weekend. BIG Give Giveback partners believe those descending on Summer NAMM and the other companies in the over $15 billion dollar Musical Instrument Industry, will hear this call to arms and donate products to “Replace the musical instruments of Music City.”
