Singer-songwriter Justin Townes Earle has released a statement through his publicist concerning his recent arrest in Indianapolis, following his September 16 performance at the club Radio Radio. Earle was charged with battery, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.

“Unfortunately, reports surfacing online about the incident in Indianapolis are not accurate,” says Earle. “I have been advised by counsel that I should not comment on a pending criminal matter, but suffice to say that I am looking forward to having my day in court. I would also like to say that I oppose violence against women in any form.”

Earle released his latest album, Harlem River Blues, earlier this month. His court date is scheduled for October 19.
