ARTIST:  Alanna Clarke

SONG:  Heartstrings

BIRTHDATE:  February 11, 1992

HOMETOWN: Cochrane, AB, Canada

CURRENT LOCATION:  Los Angeles/Calgary

AMBITIONS: To contribute positively to lives I encounter. To understand. To allow myself to have purpose and contentment. To be out in the world and to experience people as they are but not become jaded. To live a creative life.

TURN-OFFS: Flakiness. Aimlessness. Jello.

TURN-ONS: Coffee. Dancing. Sequins.

DREAM GIG: Out in the middle of the fields in the foothills of Alberta at the house I grew up in with a full orchestra. Filling the field with thousands of people. I used to go out on the patio and pretend I was doing a concert for hundreds of people, so actually doing that with an orchestra would really be great for me.

FAVORITE LYRIC:  ‘Lonely is the room the bed is made the open window lets the rain in, burning in the corner is the only one who dreams he had you with him, my body turns and yearns for a sleep that won’t ever come it’s never over, my kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder’ Jeff Buckley – Lover, You Should’ve Come Over

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: Tara Shannon of Willow Sound Artist Development. Musician, mother to 7 (5 of which are boys), entrepreneur to a massive company, always giving, always learning. – I see ‘crazy’ as a compliment.

SONG I WISH I WROTE: So many. ‘One Headlight’ – The Wallflowers. ‘Nobody’s Crying’ – Patty Griffin.

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Lena Dunham (cause DUH), Tori Amos, Malala Yousafzai, Judy Garland, My Parents.

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Lady Gaga The Monster Ball in Edmonton. Hands down.

I WROTE THIS SONG: Over the course of a year. It started with the first verse. I wrote it during my first trip to LA. It wasn’t until a year later that I wrote the Chorus that ended up working for the song. I was just starting to learn that people are their own people and sometimes you really just can’t understand what their motives are.
