The trailer for Montage of Heck, the new Kurt Cobain documentary set to premiere on May 4, was released today by HBO. The documentary, which is the first of its kind to be fully authorized by Cobain’s family members, details the late rockstar’s life from childhood to the birth of his daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. Frances, who is now 22, served as the executive producer of the documentary alongside her mother, Courtney Love.

In addition to interviews from those who were closest to Cobain, the documentary will feature rare home video clips of his early life, as well as his later family life with Love and Frances Bean. The soundtrack will also include a previously unheard 12-minute song and Cobain’s visual artwork. Watch the trailer for Montage of Heck below.
