Daily Discovery: Dylan Jakobsen, “Can’t Believe You’re Gone”

unnamed

ARTIST: Dylan Jakobsen

SONG: “Can’t Believe You’re Gone”

BIRTHDATE: July 25th, 1993

HOMETOWN: Seattle, WA

CURRENT LOCATION: Seattle, WA

AMBITIONS: To see the world and tell a story through music

TURN-OFFS: When somebody gets airplay off a song with no substance behind it.

TURN-ONS: A song with well crafted storytelling

DREAM GIG: The Gorge Amphitheater. I grew up going to shows there and it’s one of the most amazing outdoor music venues you can visit.

FAVORITE LYRIC: “Some dreams stay with you forever, drag you around and lead you back to where you were. Some dreams keep on getting better, you gotta keep believing if you wanna know for sure.”

CRAZIEST PERSON I KNOW: One of my good friends in the music industry, Josh Withenshaw. He’s one of those guys who always ends up getting himself in crazy situations but continually finds a way to make the best out of it and even turn some of those memories into killer songs!

SONG I WISH I WROTE: “Pocket Full of Change” by Will Hoge

5 PEOPLE I’D MOST LIKE TO HAVE DINNER WITH: Will Hoge, Tom Petty, Bob Taylor, Mitch Hedberg and Sacajawea (because who doesn’t want to know the best routes when they are on tour).

MY FAVORITE CONCERT EXPERIENCE: Seeing Tom Petty live at The Gorge in the summer of ’14. Even at the age of 63 that man puts on a hell of a show.

I WROTE THIS SONG: This is a subject that I think hits home for most of us. One of my closest friends lost their grandfather earlier this year and gave me the inspiration to sit down and pen this track the moment I heard the news. This song is all about the memories that you share with the ones you lost. Whether it be an object such as a guitar, baseball cap or anything else that reminds you of the time you spent together.
