Unissued Jimi Hendrix Recordings Set for Black Friday Release

Jim Hendrix - Burning Desire

Videos by American Songwriter

A set of unreleased Jimi Hendrix studio recordings will be released as a part of this year’s Record Store Day ‘Back To Black Friday’ event.

The release, entitled Burning Desire, is a 2-LP set that includes recordings Hendrix made at the Record Plant in New York immediately before and after the four 1969/1970 New Year’s Eve/Day Fillmore East concerts that produced the live album Band of Gypsys. Hendrix is accompanied by bassist Billy Cox and drummer Buddy Miles on the recordings, which are said to explore funk and soul while still remaining rock-focused.

The album will be released on 150-gram vinyl with the first 5,000 copies being numbered. See the release’s track listing below, along with a video that focuses on Hendrix’s time with Band of Gypsys.
