San Francisco singer-songwriter essence has unveiled the video of her cover of “Honeyed Out,” a country-influenced track off her forthcoming record Black Wings. The amusing, simple video features a lone essence, stoic in the face of “too much honey.”

“‘Honeyed Out,’ written by Kris Delmhorst, is about that thing that feels so irresistibly good to you that it becomes all consuming, so much so that sensible decision making is abandoned, and you find yourself returning for more, again and again, despite your better judgement,” says essence. “I don’t do a lot of covers, but this is one song that resonated with me so much. I wish I’d written it myself because it felt like my own story.”

Black Wings is set to release July 29. Check out the video for “Honeyed Out” below.
