- How do I unsubscribe from your mailing list?
- We’re sorry to see you go! There is an unsubscribe button at the bottom of each email. Please note that we have multiple mailing lists, so if you are still receiving emails, please send a note to [email protected], and we will assist you.
- If you do not see an unsubscribe button, you most likely have push notifications on for American Songwriter. Those can be turned off in your browser settings.

- How do I become a member?
- Please visit this page for more information on our membership tiers and their offerings.
- How do I log into my account?
- As a member you have 2 logins:
- Your acount login at americansongwriter.com which includes all of your purchasing history.
- And your Membership login at members.americansongwriter.com which is your portal to all things Membership.
- How do I check the status of my membership?
- Go to “Manage My Membership“
- Select “Subscriptions”
- How do I upgrade/downgrade my membership?
- Go to “Manage My Membership“
- Select “Subscriptions”
- Select “Change Subscription”
- Select Your New Membership
- Complete Checkout
- How do I submit my lyrics for the Lyric Review?
- This feature is only available for Diamond members.
- In the Membership Hub, go to the “Lyric Review”.
- Complete the form to submit your lyrics.
- When will I receive my first issue?
- American Songwriter Magazine is bi-monthly. We send the list of recipients to our printer on the 1st of every other month.
- You can always read any issue of American Songwriter Magazine in the Membership Hub
- How do I change my street address?
- Go to the membership tab in the menu and sign into your account. A menu will appear on the left side of the screen with a “Addresses” option. This is where you can update your shipping and billing addresses.
- How does my membership renewal work?
- The memberships automatically renew unless canceled before the renewal date. You can manage your membership status on your account profile, which can be found under the membership tab on our homepage. If you have already paid for the year, then your access will continue until the date you were set to renew. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Song Contest
- When is the deadline?
- Deadline is December 9, 2024 at 11:59:59 PM (CT)
- Do I maintain ownership of my song?
- Yes! We do NOT claim ownership in the materials you submit in conjunction with the contest.
- Is the contest international?
- Yes! Submissions from any country are allowed.
- How much does it cost?
- $25 per entry. Note: Each category you select counts as a separate entry.
- Is production quality a factor?
- No, production quality is not a factor in our annual Song Contest.
- How do I submit my songs?
- Copy and paste a public link to your songs into the form at checkout. They can be hosted on any streaming platform: SoundCloud, YouTube, etc.
- How do I edit my entry?
- To edit your entry please email our Customer Relations team at [email protected] with your Order ID and the edit you need to make. *Note: We cannot guarantee that we will be able to edit your entry if you contact us more than 2 weeks after your entry date.
- Why is there an entry fee?
- The entry fee helps cover the processing and administration of the contest. This is a standard practice for the majority of notable song contests.
- Will I receive feedback on my song?
- Our judges do not give individual feedback. If you are interested in having your lyrics reviewed, we have a lyric critique benefit that is included in our Diamond Memberships.
- When will the winners be announced?
- The winners of the 2024 Song Contest will be announced via email and on our website in the Spring of 2025.
Road Ready Talent Contest
- When is the deadline?
- Deadline is May 13, 2024 at 11:59:59 PM (CT)
- Do I maintain ownership of my song?
- Yes! We do NOT claim ownership in the materials you submit in conjunction with the contest.
- Is the contest international?
- Yes! Submissions from any country are allowed.
- How much does it cost?
- $35 per entry.
- Is production quality a factor?
- Everything is a factor in a talent contest. Enter songs and video performances that best personify you as an artist. The more songs & videos you enter, the better chance our judges have to evaluate your talent.
- How do I submit my songs?
- Copy and paste a public link to your songs into the form at checkout. They can be hosted on any streaming platform: SoundCloud, YouTube, etc.
- How do I edit my entry?
- To edit your entry please email our Customer Relations team at [email protected] with your Order ID and the edit you need to make. *Note: We cannot guarantee that we will be able to edit your entry if you contact us more than 2 weeks after your entry date.
- Why is there an entry fee?
- The entry fee helps cover the processing and administration of the contest. This is a standard practice for the majority of notable song contests.

- Session Four: July/August 2024 Contest – Deadline is May 15th at 11:59:59 PM (CT)
- Session Five: September/October 2024 Contest – Deadline is July 15th at 11:59:59 PM (CT)

- $15 per entry.

- Yes! We do not claim ownership in the materials you submit in conjunction with the contest.
- Is the contest international?
- Yes! Submissions from any country are allowed but all lyrics entered must be submitted in English.
- How do I submit my lyrics?
- Copy and paste your lyrics into the designated area on the checkout form.
- How do I edit my entry?
- To edit your entry please email our Customer Relations team at [email protected] with your Order ID and your FULL & COMPLETE lyrics. *Note: We cannot guarantee that we will be able to edit your entry if you contact us more than 2 weeks after your entry date.

Contest Promotions
- How do I know if my song was entered into the promotion?
- If you submit your entry into an eligible contest during a promotion period, it will automatically be included in the promotion. *Note: the promotion will not show up on your receipt.
- How are promotions different from American Songwriters’ other contests?
- Special promotions are a way for us to offer additional prizes to our contest entrants! They only run for a short period of time and by entering during a promotion period your submission will be considered for both promotional prizes + the respective contest prizes.
- Who judges the promotions?
- All promotion entries are reviewed and screened by multiple professional songwriters contracted by American Songwriter.

- Yes we allow entries from anywhere across the globe.
- Did you get my submission to the Lyric Contest?
- If you went to the Lyric Contest Page and successfully completed all the steps to submit the form then yes we did!
- Am I going to get feedback on my lyrics?
- Due to the volume of submissions, we are unable to provide individual feedback on each lyric submission. If you are concerned about whether or not we received your submission, you can email [email protected] to check on the status of your submission.
- If you are interested in receiving a Lyric Review, this service is available to our Diamond Members. Please go to the Membership page to learn more.
- Can I submit a lyric that was co-written to the lyric contest?
- Yes! Please be sure to credit your co-writer during the submission process.
- Do I have to submit a recording of the lyric, or just the text?
- For the lyric contest submission, we only require the text of the lyrics.
- Do you own my lyrics if I submit to the contest?
- Absolutely not! American Songwriter does not claim any rights whatsoever to the material submitted to our contest.
- Do submission to the contest need to be in English?
- Yes – all of our judges are predominantly English speaking.
- I submitted a lyric but never got a confirmation email. What’s going on?
- Our emails might get lost in your spam/promotions folders. Please check there to start.

Song Contest
