ReverbNation and SongVest have recently announced a partnership that will bring songwriters closer to both their fans and news streams of profit. SongVest, which is dedicated to auctioning off the song rights to thousands of popular tunes has decided to utilize the musician-friendly marketing promoter ReverbNation, which holds a 250,000 member base. SongVest has already made news in auctioning off writer’s rights to two songs by the ‘80s-heavy-hair metal band Stryper, which eventually sold for a face-melting $25,000. “Music lovers searching through ReverbNation can now buy a song while the band is still a developing artist,” said David Prohaska, Co-Founder and CMO of SongVest. “Imagine buying in on tracks from the next Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance before they hit the big time. And for artists that have built a devoted following already, like GB Leighton, this is a fantastic opportunity to leverage the equity they’ve created through their hard work.” Now SongVest is introducing an auction ending October 18 with songs made famous by Garth Brooks, Ringo Starr, Aerosmith, Ozzie and many more. Those that purchase shared song rights will receive a personalized plaque denoting their new status as song co-owner, along with a one-of-a-kind, RIAA-certified gold or platinum album award, handwritten lyrics and other collectable items. Buyers make money in parallel with the artists that wrote them, coining the SongVest marketing moniker, “the memorabilia with a paycheck.” More auctions will be coming soon, so music maniacs, for those of you still with a fat wallet in these nosedive economic times, feast your eyes on the following songs that were auctioned off.
