Bridging the gap between indie and pop, “A Hundred Needle Pins” is a hypnotic track off Sweet Lights‘ self-titled debut album, out September 18 on Highline Records. Sweet Lights is the latest project from Shai Halperin, the former frontman of The Capitol Years.

“For A Hundred Needle Pins, I wanted to use this ‘not, not, not’ section I came up with long ago. It seemed Lou Reed-like at the time, but when fleshing out the song I stumbled upon an Andalusian cadence which maintained tension yet still resolved,” Halperin  tells American Songwriter. “It made the tonal system a bit more interesting, for me at least. And of course the song is about drugs.”
