Amy Black This Is Home Head Shot
Here’s a heartwarming video from Boston-based Americana artist Amy Black. “I’m Home” hails from her upcoming album, This Is Home, the followup to her 2011 debut One Time. The new record features two covers — John Prine’s “Speed of the Sound of Loneliness” and Rodney Crowell’s “Still Learning How to Fly” — and eleven originals.

“Home is such a powerful word,” Black tells us. “It evokes a lot of emotion. I moved around a lot as a kid, so more than a place, home is about being with those I love, whether in Alabama or Boston. It’s where I’m comfortable and can just let my hair down. It’s where people really know me. I feel most at home when I’m with my family — it was very important to me to have them in the video.

“As a touring artist, I’m on the road a good deal and will be even more this next year. There’s nothing like knowing that my husband and my pup are are eagerly awaiting my arrival and that I get to sleep in my own bed, drink a cup of coffee in my own kitchen and pile on the couch covered in blankets to watch my favorite show. Homecoming is very sweet.”
