Esteemed singer-songwriter Dave Barnes has penned tracks for some of country music’s biggest stars, including Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and Hunter Hayes. Now, the Grammy-nominated writer is gearing up for the release of his ninth studio album, Carry On, San Vicente, which drops on Mar. 18.

In advance of the album’s release, get an exclusive first listen to the song “Nothing Like You.” The track is easy listening at its finest, with smooth vocals floating atop a consistent acoustic guitar. Bursts of catchy guitar licks and country-influenced slides round out the song’s relaxing, summertime sound.

“‘Nothing Like You’ is one of my favorites on this new album,” Barnes tells American Songwriter. “It might be the most sing-able chorus. It was one of those songs that I really wanted to have a couple of things—that static acoustic strum, a groove that felt like you’re driving in your car somewhere on a back road, a lead slide line kind of thing, and memorable chorus—one of those choruses you hear once and can hopefully sing. I really like how it landed. I think we captured what I was going and hoping for—that vibe—in a really wonderful way. It just sits where it is, doesn’t really have a humongous moment or anything. It’s easy listening, which I was going for on this album.”
