After heavily hinting at an upcoming follow up to their 2013 record Hummingbird, indie rock group Local Natives has announced the release of new album Sunlit Youth on September 9 via Loma Vista/Concord Music Group. A track from the project, “Villainy,” dropped yesterday, following earlier single “Past Lives.” “Villainy” premiered via Apple Music on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show, along with a brief interview with band members Taylor Rice and Ryan Hahn.

“Villainy, specifically, was written on a flight from one of the festivals we were doing, and the whole goal wasn’t even to make a Local Natives song, it was more ‘here’s a song with no guitars, based more on dance rhythym,'” Rice and Hahn told Lowe of the song’s genesis.

The band also announced an extensive world tour, which kicks off this August in Belgium. According to the band’s Twitter account, $1 from the sale of each ticket will support gender-based violence intervention and prevention programs. Check out tour dates here.
