Here she is at 20 years old in the fall of 1978, right after having moved to New York City to pursue dance after dropping out of college.

Madonna in 1986 at 28 years old, just after marrying Sean Penn, making a cameo in the film Vision Quest, and touring with the Beastie Boys as her opening act.

By the early 1990s, Madonna was a global icon with ten number-ones on the Billboard Hot 100 and  the No.1 movie in America, A League of Their Own, where she starred as a baseball player.

Here is Madonna in 1996, age 48, accepting a Brit Award for Best International Female Solo Artist. This after a few years of especially provocative performances including kissing Britney Spears on stage.  

Madonna in the mid 2010s after headlining the 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Show and releasing her thirteenth studio album, Rebel Heart.

More recently, Madonna, now age 63, released a documentary film chronicling her life called Madame X as she went on a tour under the same title.
