On August 31, Sammy Hagar performed a thrilling show in Maryland Heights, Missouri, and wrapped up the North American leg of The Best of All Worlds Tour.
But this performance faced an unexpected challenge as the drummer Jason Bonham had to leave immediately due to his family emergency.
With only 24 hours' notice, Kenny Aronoff stepped in to fill Bonham's shoes and despite the short prep time, he delivered a nearly perfect performance from the start.
Hagar was all praises of Aronoff's impressive skills, stating, “He’s the only guy that you can hand a set list of 24 songs and in 24 hours he can play ’em.”
A hint of Chickenfoot nostalgia was there in Aronoff's involvement as he previously filled in for Chad Smith on the band's 2011–2012 tour dates.
There is still no confirmation of whether Bonham will be able to perform for their upcoming Japan shows, and later in September or not given his circumstances.
Despite all of this, Sammy Hagar expresses his gratitude to Kenny Aronoff for being a great support system during this challenging time.
Check out the reason why Jason Bonham had to leave Sammy Hagar’s Northern American Tour and what challenges Hagar had to face.
