This Alvarez is well built and touts a six way pick-up combination. For the player that is not a tonal aficionado, this guitar is right up your alley. While it lacks masterful tonal qualities, it has a wider range of available pick-up voices and options than most guitars in its class.

The six-position knob located next to the tone control allows you to blend what pick-ups are being used. When the bridge pick-up is isolated, the highs are brightened, creating a much thinner, crisp tone. As you begin blending the neck pick-up, you can search for your own suitable combination of the two.

For the guitarist that feels the need to grab a guitar and work out a riff, this one can do the job. The major flaw with this instrument is its lack of richness and tone. It simply sounds thin and stiff. While this is a substantial drawback, the instrument's playability and pickup blending options make for a solid utility guitar.
