The 2008 American Deluxe Ash Telecaster is sure to be a success for Fender guitars. In the past couple of years I have become somewhat of a Tele enthusiast, and this guitar really exceeds my expectations. I was immediately drawn to the guitar’s beauty, but fell in love with its sound and feel.
The neck and pickups are what really set this Telecaster apart from other models. The guitar’s maple neck features a chunky “U” shaped 1952 cut with beautiful abalone dot inlays and a vintage tint finish. Many players have referred to this neck shape as the “baseball bat,” and with good reason-it’s thick! It felt like butter in my hands, and string bending was a breeze. The abalone inlays and vintage tint finish are well worth the price. Plugging this guitar into my Fender Twin was amazing. I was waiting for that Fender pickup buzz that we all know and love, but it never showed. Surprise! The Tele’s Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Pickups with added S-1 switching equals amazing tone with no buzz. This guitar will work in a variety of styles from arena rock to Nashville’s Broadway honky-tonk. Mix these features with a beautiful two-tone sunburst finish and you can’t go wrong. I encourage you to go out and play one–now.
