Song Premiere: Ana Popovic, “Boys Night Out”

Serbian guitar slinger Ana Popovic moved her family to Memphis last year, where she recorded Can You Stand The Heat, her latest album of blues-inspired originals. The album, out this week, was cut at historic Ardent Studios with a cast of top notch Memphis sidemen, and was co-produced by BB King drummer Tony Coleman.

Take a listen to the funky album track “Boys Night Out.” “It’s a fun tune I wrote while trying to look at a “boy’s night out” from the male perspective,” Popovic tells American Songwriter. “We girls sit at home and nag about it, but sometimes men need a night filled with talk of cars, poker, smoking, drinking. It’s fine to give it to them once in a while. . .”
