Songwriter Says: “This is somewhat of a playful song lyrically about my wife and I. I am a huge John Prine fan and one of my favorite songs of his is the duet he did with Iris DeMent called “’In Spite of Ourselves.’ I love how playful and sarcastic those lyrics are, but within those lyrics, you can tell there’s a deep love. I kind of wanted to take that approach with this song. The lyrics are this whole idea of when before I met my wife I was this cold, dark, tough guy who never got lonely, but that when she came along, she screwed all of that up for the better. Although it’s a fun, more upbeat, playful song, I hope the lyrics communicate a deep love that happens when someone you don’t expect interrupts your life and rocks your world in all the best ways. That’s what my wife did for me.”
