4 Famous Rock Songs You Didn’t Know Were Used in TV Commercials

Advertisers love using old-school famous rock songs in their commercials. It makes sense why: They’re easily recognizable and utterly jam-worthy. If anything, they’ll at least get the viewer’s attention. However, some uses of classic rock songs from decades past have been a little odd, and not entirely fitting for the TV commercials they were used in. Let’s look at a few examples of famous rock songs that were used in TV commercials that may or may not have been very fitting.

1. “I’m Broken” by Pantera

Carl’s Jr. is a restaurant chain known for keeping it simple in their commercials. In this TV ad from the 2010s, we see a close-up of some ingredients in a high-end restaurant before Pantera’s “I’m Broken” kicks in, tossing the plates into the air and forming a cheeseburger in mid-air. If only listening to Pantera could do that in real life.

2. “Sympathy For The Devil” by The Rolling Stones

What’s with car commercials and using classic rock songs against dramatic footage? It’s a little played out and old. However, we have to hand it to Mercedes for getting Willem Dafoe on board for this Super Bowl commercial that aired in 2013.

3. “Rock You Like A Hurricane” by Scorpions

Few would hear “Rock You Like A Hurricane” by Scorpions and think of a fiber supplement. However, Fiber One managed to make it work in this unusually passionate commercial promo for their cereal bar products.

4. “Sweet Emotion” by Aerosmith

You could play “Sweet Emotion” by Aerosmith against imagery of almost anything and it would make the experience better. When it comes to classic rock songs used in TV commercials, Dick’s Sporting Goods made decent use of this iconic 1975 song.
