1. Tommy

The Who’s Tommy features a number of famous faces. The rock opera film follows the band’s album of the same name. John’s role represents the track “Pinball Wizard” as he showcases his skills on a piano-keyed pinball machine while singing the titular track.

2. The Country Bears

John’s cameos run the gamut of film genres. Perhaps his most unexpected surprise appearance is Disney’s The Country Bears. In the film, the band of bears stumble upon John while he is working out in the garden. What follows is a perfect show of the family-friendly comedy Disney has honed over the years.

3. The Simpsons

Few shows know how to do a celebrity cameo like The Simpsons. In 1999, John guest starred in the long-running animated comedy. In the episode, he finds himself locked in a cage by Homer Simpson, who believes the musician is part of a scheme devised by another Springfield local to steal his wife away. On top of all the outlandish action, John delivers a new recording of “Your Song” in his episode.

4. Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is one of John’s most bonkers cameos. The sequel follows a drug cartel (run by Julianne Moore) who kidnaps the iconic musician and forces him to do their bidding. There is a fight scene between John and a few of Moore’s lackeys that is just absurd enough to work. Plus, it turned out to be a pretty full-circle moment for John, given that the lead in Kinsgman, Taron Egerton, would go on to play John in his biopic, Rocketman.
