If a hit song gets enough attention, itโll be played over and over again for years. Thatโs what happened to these four one-hit wonders, at least. Weโre still quite big fans of these perfectly loveable one-hit wonders, but one canโt deny that they were kind of overplayed at one point. Letโs take a look!
1. โSomebody That I Used To Knowโ by Gotye
If you were upright and conscious in the year 2011, you were probably bombarded by this song several times a day for months. โSomebody That I Used To Knowโ by Gotye is an excellent song, donโt get us wrong. It hit no. 1 on the Hot 100 (and many, many other charts) for a reason. However, radio stations got a little too trigger-happy with this song and played it on repeat for quite a while.

2. โPumped Up Kicksโ by Foster The People
Ah, โPumped Up Kicksโ by Foster The People. This one-hit wonder was a huge indie pop hit in 2010. In fact, the song was so catchy that it took audiences quite a while to pick apart the songโs lyrics and realize that it was actually about a psychopathic school shooter. Still, โPumped Up Kicksโ is a real jam and deserved its spot at no. 3 on the Hot 100 that year.
3. โBad Dayโ by Daniel Powter
When it comes to overplayed one-hit wonders, โBad Dayโ by Daniel Powter is a hard single to beat. Virtually every playlist out there that compiles the best hits of the mid-2000s includes this song. It was a pop-rock hit and was used extensively for television commercials and films throughout the 2000s and even the 2010s.
4. โTake On Meโ by A-Ha
This 1984 one-hit wonder may have been heavily overplayed for a while, but weโre not complaining. This A-Ha tune is a fantastic synth-pop song that reached no. 1 on the Hot 100 chart that year.ย
โTake On Meโ is still the stuff of legend today, and A-Ha proved that itโs very much possible to release a song that ages very well and is loved for decades. We dare you to not attempt that high note in the chorus when this song comes on.
