Oasis’ Noel Gallagher is a fantastic musician, so it isn’t exactly surprising that he has eclectic music taste. Noel Gallagher has gone on record to say that the following four songs are his favorite, and we’re not entirely surprised. They’re simply terrific pieces of work.

1. “Ticket To Ride” by The Beatles
Back in 2015, Gallagher made an appearance on the famed British radio show Desert Island Discs. The program is a very insightful one that asks various guests (most of which are famous musicians themselves) to curate a list of their favorite songs. One notable song that Galalgher mentioned was “Ticket To Ride” by The Beatles.
“I can’t really go through this without mentioning The Beatles,” Gallagher said on the radio program. “The first guitar that I ever bought when I actually had some money was an Epiphone, it’s what they used to play. They mean a great deal to me musically.”
2. “Voodoo Ray” by A Guy Called Gerald
Gallagher also added “Voodoo Ray” by A Guy Called Gerald to his list of favorites. This iconic 1988 track was the debut single of Gerald Simpson. It was a surprise hit and climbed the UK Singles chart, where it stayed for 18 weeks.
It was a testament to the value of independent music; “Voodoo Ray” became the best-selling indie single of 1989 via the British Phonographic Industry. It’s an iconic song that is deeply associated with Manchester, where Gallagher is from.
3. “With Or Without You” by U2
Out of every entry on our list of Noel Gallagher’s favorite songs, this one is perhaps the most surprising. Gallagher was pretty open about the artists who inspired him via his interview with Desert Island Discs and wasn’t afraid to inject a bit of humor into his answers.
“I love U2,” said Gallagher. “If you don’t get it, you don’t get it, and shame on you if not.”
Even if you think U2 is cheesy, you can’t deny that “With Or Without You” is a pretty addictive song.
4. “Be My Baby” by The Ronettes
“Be My Baby” by The Ronettes is a classic American pop song from 1963, performed by one of the greatest girl groups of the 20th century. It’s a favorite of Gallagher’s for a very personal reason. He noted in the interview that it is a tribute to his wife.
“I don’t ever envisage life without her, she’s everything to me,” Gallagher said. “This [‘Be My Baby’] was the song for our first dance at our wedding.”
We’re not crying, you’re crying.
