Iconic pop singer Britney Spears made a heartfelt Instagram post depicting a night out dancing. In the post, the “Toxic” singer reveals that when she was under a conservatorship, she wasn’t allowed to have much of a nightlife.

Spears‘ post features a video of the singer dancing with a friend at a nightclub. The video was accompanied by a caption that details just how strict the conservatorship’s rules were. Spears’ caption reads, “I saw this today and cried like a baby !!! I think it was my second year working in Vegas !!! Of course, I was never allowed to drink with my crew so I never went out really !!! People won’t believe me but in 4 years I went out 3 times !! New Year’s Party one year … and the last show party !!!”
The caption continues, “Obviously all I’ve ever known is to work 🙄🙄🙄 !!! The one thing I remembered from my first few tours before the conservatorship was how I got to feel like a sexy sassy pants and dance all night in every city !!! Skinny dipping in the oceans with my dancers !!! And my best friend embarrassing the s*** out of us peeing in a plant by the elevator because she couldn’t wait 🙄🙄🙄 !!! The shows felt better because we were deeper in our bodies and we felt it with every piece of sweat coming out of our pores !!!”

Spears was placed under conservatorship in 2008, and her father, Jamie Spears, was in control of all of her assets and kept the singer under strict rules. The conservatorship was not terminated until 2021, making Spears not in control of her own life for 13 years. During a Las Vegas residency, which took place between December 2013 and December 2017, Spears felt as though she didn’t get to experience the fun that her backup dancers did.
Spears added, “I was always so jealous in Vegas because my one dancer Mikey, who was my best dancer. … I could always tell when he had partied the night before because he was electric on stage !!! Guess he was feeling himself !!! Please come party with me now Mikey !!! I miss them so !!! And even though there were no crazy drinking nights for 13 years … I still have the most wicked cool memories from before !!!”
Spears ends the caption by writing, “Remember all things wicked come from innocence !!! I get to go to Vegas and be wicked like my mom now !!! JUST SAYING !!! This night is me here with my handsome friend Cade who I love and adore !!! He made feel like such a woman !!! Psss this is not a memoir I am not dead people !!! This is a flashback to remind me to get my a** on the dance floor and shake my ass !!! PSSS I’m an equal American citizen now !!! I can go to spas now too !!!”
