Cody Jinks is hailed as one of the finest outlaw country artists in the game today. Fans crank his albums because they love his sound as well as his songwriting. Back in 2012, he was still trying to find his place in the genre. More importantly, he was working hard to improve his songwriting and storytelling. The result of that journey of self-improvement was the fan-favorite album 30. Songs like “We Get By,” “A Memory and a Dream,” and “Thunderheads” remain popular among fans today, more than a decade later.

In an interview with Fort Worth Weekly ahead of the release of 30, Jinks talked about working on his songwriting. “It’s tough because I want you to feel like you’ve live a song in order to believe it, but I’ll also look at guys like Jason Eady—he can write a song that’s so good you don’t know where he came from, but you don’t care because it sounds real,” he said. “I just want to be a better storyteller.” Fans and critics alike agree that he reached that goal with the album.
Now, he’s looking to breathe new life into the classic 10-song collection with a remastered version. Backside of 30 will feature remastered versions of all of the original songs from the album. Additionally, Jinks recorded a new track titled “When the New Wears Off” for the re-release.
“I really love the 30 album,” Jinks shared in a statement. “I feel like it was a big step up for me in my writing and it was time to remaster, add a new one, and re-release,” he added.
