The show will take place on November 24 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Among the many other artists slated to perform at the event are Warren Haynes Band, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, and Goose.
A variety of special guests also will hit the stage during the concert. They include Phish’s Trey Anastasio, Mavis Staples, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Robert Randolph, Trombone Shorty, and Joe Russo.
The Soulshine concert will be held immediately after the Dave Matthews Band’s sold-out November 22-23 stand at Madison Square Garden.
Warren Haynes’ Comments About the “Soulshine” Concert
Warren Haynes’ hometown of Asheville, North Carolina, was hit particularly hard by one of the two hurricanes. Haynes also organizes an annual holiday benefit concert in Asheville called Christmas Jam, which raises money for the local Habitat for Humanity chapter. There will be no 2024 Christmas Jam, due to the hurricane relief and recovery efforts. The holiday concert will return in 2025.
“The damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Helene to my beloved home of Asheville and all of Western North Carolina has truly devastated me,” Haynes said in a statement. “Every year, it is my honor to host the Christmas Jam and give back to the community there, but this year, we need to do things a bit differently. I’m thrilled to partner with my good friends in Dave Matthews Band and so many other musician friends to bring ‘Soulshine’ to the iconic Madison Square Garden and help raise money for all those affected by both hurricanes throughout North Carolina and Florida.”
He added, “My heart is with you all and we look forward to creating a really special night!”
The concert is named after a popular Allman Brothers Band song written by Haynes. The tune appeared on the group’s 1994 album Where It All Begins.
