Australian singer-songwriter Henry Wagons stopped by the American Songwriter office, and things got entertaining quickly. The troubadour tore through an acoustic performance of his riff-based country song “Head or Heart” while incorporating his characteristic humor and showmanship. Not long after the performance began, Wagons was out of his seat dancing, strumming, and passionately singing to the camera, as if it were one of the very people who inspired the song.

Watch the energetic and fun performance below.

“Head or Heart” is a new track off Wagons’ second solo record, “After What I Did Last Night…” Wagons recorded the album, which dropped last month, in Nashville with a wide array of musicians and friends.

Along with his solo recordings, Henry Wagons is also the frontman for the Melbourne alt-country band Wagons, with whom he has released released four studio albums.

Four year ago, Henry Wagons visited the old American Songwriter offices with bandmate Chad Mason to perform “Willie Nelson,” a song originally recorded by fellow Melbourne artist The Wayfaring Strangers. Check out that performance from 2012 here.

Wagons is slated to play a string of Australian shows in May.
