After Kris Kristofferson passed away over the weekend, country artists and actors took to social media to share their memories of him. It was as if anyone who worked with Kristofferson had wonderful memories of him. However, those were people who worked alongside him in either music or film. Lukas Nelson grew up around him.

Kristofferson and Willie Nelson were friends. As a result, the families spent time together. Lukas was raised around men who many call heroes today. Yesterday (September 30), he took to social media to share a sweet throwback photo and a heartfelt post with his fans and followers.
Lukas Nelson Remembers His “Greatest Inspiration” Kris Kristofferson
The post shows a much younger Kris Kristofferson holding a baby in what might be the cutest photo of the all-around legend in existence. In the caption, Lukas Nelson reveals that he is the baby in the photo.
“This is me and Kris Kristofferson when we first met,” Nelson revealed. “Kris helped me to believe in myself as a songwriter when I was a boy,” he added. “Other than my father, he was my greatest inspiration.”
He continued, writing about the character of the man that so many admire. “He embodied humility and kindness and carried his grace into his words and music with unique eloquence. He was a great among greats. One of the coolest men in music. Strong and fierce with a gentleman’s soul,” Nelson wrote.

About the path Kristofferson followed, Nelson wrote that he was “A Rhodes Scholar who left the Oxford life to become a seeker. He was an aviator and an inventor of phrases. Kris could land anywhere and did,” he wrote. “I grew up with him and his family. I love them, I love him, and I always will,” Nelson concluded.
Nelson’s post was a fitting tribute to a man who did it all. He wrote hit songs, starred in iconic movies, rose to the rank of captain in the United States Army, landed a chopper on Johnny Cash’s lawn, and comforted Sinead O’Connor when it seemed like the whole world was against her. He was truly an inspiration.
