Snoop Dogg’s career would make a great film with one of the strangest character arcs in Hollywood history. He started as a gang member in Long Beach, California. That led him to become one of the biggest gangsta rappers the West Coast had to offer. Decades later, he became friends with Martha Stewart and started doing Bic lighter commercials with her and country icon Willie Nelson. Now, he’s a coach on The Voice and close friends with Michael Bublé.

More than that, Bublé was both excited and terrified to meet his fellow coach when it came time to film season 26 of The Voice. On one hand, Snoop has a reputation for being one of the kindest and most welcoming people in show business. On the other hand, the old adage “don’t meet your heroes” is popular for a reason. Bublé was afraid that he would meet Snoop and he wouldn’t be the guy he expected him to be. They discussed his anxiety and their initial meeting in a behind-the-scenes conversation.
Michael Bublé on Meeting Snoop Dogg for the First Time
During a backstage conversation between The Voice coaches, Snoop Dogg asked Michael Bublé, “When you finally met that artist that you wanted to work with your whole life, and you got a chance to work with them, what was that feeling? And, you can name that artist if you have.”
“I can’t tell you ‘cause you just won’t believe me,” Bublé replied. “I will believe you,” the iconic rapper replied earnestly. Then, Bublé continued. “I love you so much. I’m not joking,” the Canadian singer/songwriter said, his voice getting a little thick with emotion. “My family loves you. I was so terrified that you wouldn’t be who you are,” he added.
“I was so excited to do this with you. And people said, ‘Oh man, he has a great reputation.’ I was so nervous the day we showed up and you were awesome. And that was huge for me,” he recalled. “The truth is, I was really excited. Like, I was so excited to meet you and you were better than I ever thought you could be. That’s the truth,” he added.
