Michelle Williams Slated to Narrate Audiobook Version of Britney Spears’ New Memoir ‘The Woman In Me’

In 2021, Britney Spears was freed from her conservatorship that kept her from making her own decisions for 13 years. Soon after, she signed a $15 million book deal to share her story in the form of a tell-all memoir, titled The Woman In Me. Although fans were hoping that Spears would read her own words, providing an intimate experience of her life for the audiobook, it looks like renowned actress Michelle Williams will be reading instead.

According to People, Spears will provide an intro to the audiobook while Williams will narrate the entirety of the memoir. “This book has been a labor of love and all the emotions that come with it,” Spears shared in a recent statement. “Reliving everything has been exciting, heart-wrenching, and emotional, to say the least. For those reasons, I will only be reading a small part of my audiobook … I am so grateful to the amazing Michelle Williams for reading the rest of it.”

The Woman In Me will be available on October 24. Until then, Spears has been sharing sneak peeks at the emotional memoir on her social media. This includes highlighting her favorite performances from throughout her career.

In early September, she posted a throwback to her 2001 “I’m a Slave 4 U” performance from the MTV Video Music Awards. Yes, the one with the snake.

“One of my favorite performances was with an albino python,” Spears wrote on Instagram. “I still remember how scared I felt when I was handed this snake and took the stage !!! I talked more about this performance and other favorites in my book #TheWomanInMe … I can’t wait for you to read it on October 24th.”

Spears has been sharing throwbacks and sneak peeks on social media periodically throughout this year. In July, she posted several videos to Twitter. “My book is coming out very, very soon,” she shared. “I worked my ass off for this book. I had a lot of therapy to get this book done, so you guys better like it. If you don’t like it, that’s fine too. … My story on my terms. At last.”
