Joel previously played a 10-concert residency at the arena in 2008. The sold-out engagement spanned from a May 23 show through a July 5 performance, according to Setlist.fm. The venue is located on the grounds of the Mohegan Sun Casino.

Some pre-sale tickets for the concert are available now. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 13, at 10 a.m. ET.

Mohegan executive Tom Cantone issued a statement expressing his excitement about Joel’s return to the arena.

“After we did 10 record sellouts in a row I was hoping some day for an encore,” Cantone said. “Billy Joel just confirmed what Billboard referenced our venue as—‘The Cathedral of Music,’ and that will stand for The Longest Time.”

The upcoming Mohegan Sun Arena show also will mark Joel first open-to-the-public concert in Connecticut since 2008. In 2022, he played at the Greenwich Town Party event, which was an performance exclusively for Greenwich, Connecticut, residents and those who work in the town. Billy also took part in a Q&A event in November 2011 at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.

Joel’s Other Upcoming Concerts

As previously reported, Joel wrapped up his long-running monthly residency at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 25. Since then, Billy has played one other concert, on August 9 in Cardiff, Wales.
