Music can make your day. One song playing at the right moment, perhaps with the right cup of coffee in your favorite mug, and the sun coming through the window, can really make life worth living.

We here at American Songwriter think that songs are the oxygen for your spiritual lungs. 

To that end, we wanted to share 16 new works of music to brighten your day and share the good word of composition. So, with that in mind, here are 16 songs for you today.

1. K.Flay

Multi-talented vocalist K.Flay released her latest single, “Raw Raw.” The new track displays the artist at her best, blending music that sticks to your eardrums, ribs, teeth, and eyelashes and that also has a punch that might also be wearing brass knuckles. The music video for the new song is just as mesmerizing.

2. Atmosphere

The Minnesota rap duo released its latest song, “Holding My Breath,” ahead of its new album, So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously, out May 5. There is also a tour this summer. Atmosphere’s new song blends hip-hop drums with reggae melodies.

3. Silvana Estrada

Unparalleled vocalist Sylvana Estrada released a new single—a cover of Suzanne Vega’s “Tom’s Diner.” On it, her voice bounces and flits. It’s a lovely offering and, we hope, portends more to come. Check it out below.

4. Kuinka

The New York-via-Pacific Northwest-born band, which boasts a bouquet of epic sounds, has released its newest single, “Dream House,” a soaring song full of emotion and energy. Check it out below and be on the lookout for more to come.

5. The Milk Carton Kids

The harmony-driven Grammy-nominated songwriting duo released their newest single, “North Country Ride,” ahead of their forthcoming new album, I Only See the Moon, which is out on May 19. The acoustic-driven emotive track is one to savor.

6. Joseph

Indie pop trio Joseph (in American Songwriter’s March 2023 print edition) released their newest single and accompanying music video for the track “Fireworks.” The song rooted in harmony talks about the difficult moments of life. It’s delightful and thought-provoking.

7. Molly Tuttle

Americana star Molly Tuttle released her new single, “El Dorado,” and announced her forthcoming new album, City of Gold, which is out this summer on July 21. Tuttle, one of the world’s best guitar players, soars on this country song.

8. Hollywood Undead featuring Jelly Roll

Everyone’s new favorite country star Jelly Role teamed up with multi-platinum rap rock band Hollywood Undead for a new collaborative single, “House of Mirrors.” The new song comes from Hollywood Undead’s new release, Hotel Kalifornia Deluxe.

9. Beach House

The Baltimore-born band released a new EP this week, Become. The album was originally released just for Record Store Day on April 22, but now it’s out digitally and will be released on vinyl again in May. Check out the title track from the new EP below.

10. Kassa Overall

Bicoastal jazz musician Kassa Overall released his newest single, “The Lava is Calm,” from his forthcoming new album, Animals, out May 26 via Warp Records. Check out the mind-melting song below.

11. Kool Keith

Legendary rapper Kool Keith announced his new album, Black Elvis 2. With the news, he shared his titular new single. Check out the grimy, funky, cosmic new single below.

12. M. Ward

Acclaimed songwriter and performer M. Ward has announced his new studio album, Supernatural Thing, which is set to drop on June 23. With it, Ward released the new titular single. Check out the dreamy, swimming offering below.

13. Machine Gun Kelly

Rapper turned pop punk rocker turned rapper again Machine Gun Kelly released a new freestyle, featuring the popular up-and-comer Cordae. It’s a sick display of lyricism.

14. Diplo

Pop star Diplo has a new country music project, Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 — Swamp Savant, out now. With it came the new single and music video for “Sad in the Summer” featuring Lily Rose.

15. Brad

The impactful Seattle rock band that was fronted by singer Shawn Smith, who sadly passed away in 2019 is releasing new music comes posthumously. The band’s forthcoming new album, In the Moment That You’re Born, is out later this year. Check out the title track below.
