Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and wife Polly Samson both took to social media to mark their 30th wedding anniversary today (July 29).
Gilmour posted a black-and-white photo of himself and Samson from their wedding day as she apparently is about to sign their marriage certificate. In the pic, Samson, with pen in hand, is winking at a grinning Gilmour.

The 78-year-old musician accompanied the pic with a note that reads, โShe signed! Phew! 30 years ago today. The best xxx.โ
Samson, meanwhile, post two color photos from their wedding. The first shows the bride and groom about to cut into their wedding cake. The second image captures the couple smooching.
Polly captioned the post, โ30 years ago today!โ along with a heart-and-arrow emoji.
Samson is a novelist, journalist, and lyricist who regularly has collaborated with her husband throughout their long relationship. She notably contributed lyrics to most of the songs on Pink Floydโs 1994 studio album, The Division Bell, and on Gilmourโs most recent three solo effortsโOn an Island (2006), Rattle That Lock (2015), and Luck and Strange (2024).
Gilmour and Samson have three children togetherโsons Joe and Gabriel, and daughter Romany. David also adopted Pollyโs son Charlie from her first marriage to late writer Heathcote Williams. Gilmour also has four children from a previous marriage.
Gilmourโs Luck and Strange Previews
Speaking about Luck and Strange, Gilmourโs latest solo album is due out on September 6. In recent weeks, David has been posting a series of videos on his social media pages previewing various aspects of the record.
In one the latest clips, Gilmour discusses the albumโs lead track.
โThe album opens with an instrumental piece called โBlack Cat,โโ Gilmour notes. โ[It features] me playing the piano. It has some strings on it and some nice slide guitar. And the main electric guitar played [is] my new favorite black Strat, which is the Black Cat Strat, of course. I suppose I like to get people into the mood at the beginning of an album by having a little piece of quiet instrumental music that gets them in the mood for whatโs to follow.โ
Another recent video features a glimpse at the recording of orchestral and choir arrangements for the album.
โThe orchestrations were done by Will Gardner,โ David says in the clip. โHis direction of the choir is so strange and avant-garde. Although theyโre deliberately out of tune, they somehow seem to fit. Itโs very, very strange. Yeah, I think heโs a real genius.โ
More About Luck and Strange
Luck and Strange features eight new original songs, plus a cover of dream-pop duo The Montgolfier Brothersโ 1999 tune โBetween Two Points.โ The title track features keyboard parts by late Pink Floyd co-founder Richard Wright that were originally recorded in 2007 during a jam session inside a barn at Gilmourโs home.
Romany Gilmour is featured on lead vocals and harp on โBetween Two Points,โ and she also sang harmony on the song โThe Piperโs Call.โ Charlie Gilmour contributed lyrics to the albumโs final track, โScattered.โ
Luck and Strange is available for pre-order now.
