Skrillex Teases First Solo Album in Nine Years, Shares New Track “Rumble”

A new year means new music from Skrillex. The EDM artist recently teased that his first solo project in nearly a decade could be dropping in 2023.

Hinting at the news on social media, the trailblazing electronic producer โ€“ born Sonny Moore โ€“ shared a post and video clip on the first day of the new year. Vaguely captioned โ€œQFF/DGTC 23,โ€ fans seemed to widely understand the acronyms as album names expected to drop in 2023.

A whiplash-inducing flurry of song snippets can be heard in the accompanying clip below.

In a storm of disbelief, relief, and rejoicing, comments on the post are rife with overall excitement from fans and EDM peers alike. โ€œ2023 looking great already,โ€ wrote French producer Tchami in response. โ€œHYPERVENTILATING,โ€ commented dubstep DJ Subtronics. Artist Ray Volpe also chimed in, writing, โ€œi’m fucking WEEPING.โ€

The album, or albums, will mark Skrillexโ€™s first full-length solo studio effort since his 2014 debut with Recess. The record peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and launched him into electronic superstardom at the time of the dubstep boom.

Since then, he has been a mainstay in the EDM world, releasing a number of collaborations and producing a massive amount of hits with the likes of Missy Elliot, Diplo, Incubus, Maluma, and more.

The last two years have seen the artist drop a handful of standalone singles, including “Supersonic (My Existence)” with Noisia, Josh Pan, and 100 Gecs’ Dylan Brady, and “Donโ€™t Go” with Justin Bieber and Don Toliver.

Now, with the news of new music on the horizon, Skrillex has shared โ€œRumble,โ€ a smooth, but still a hard-hitting collaboration with English producer and DJ, Fred again.., alongside British MC, Flowdan. In “Rumble,” Skrillex’s unique production makes for a heart-pounding trek through an electronic jungle of ominous and spacey sounds
