Taylor Swift Appears To Take Aim at Kanye West With Mashup Release of “Mean” and “thanK you aIMee”

In barely two decades, Taylor Swift proved herself to be in a league of her own when it comes to music. Outside of her accolades, the singer sold over 200 million albums, gained billionaire status, and currently helms her Eras Tour. Appearing to take over the airwaves and world, the Eras Tour continues to gain praise from fans. And outside of the studio, she shares her ongoing love with Travis Kelce. Appearing to control 2024, the singer recently released a live mashup of two of her songs. While not out of the normal for Swift, the new mashup seemed to take aim at Kanye West.

Posted on Twitter by Taylor Nation, the new mashup between “Mean” and “ThanK you aIMee” was recorded back in June when Swift performed at Wembley Stadium. But the new artwork that accompanied the mashup featured some slight changes. When originally released, the track was called “ThanK you aIMee”, which some pointed to Kim Kardashian. Now, it appears that title is spelled “thank You aimEe”. When taking the capitalized letters – it spells Ye. Over the years, West changed his name several times, going by Pablo, Yeezus, Yeezy, Ye, and even Mr. West.

The Ongoing History Between Taylor Swift And Kanye West

When taking the stage to perform the song, Swift discussed the criticism and hate she received. “It really makes me think about how every time somebody talks s***.” She added, “It just makes me work even harder, and it makes me that much tougher. So it also makes me incredibly thankful for this.”

The turbulent relationship between Swift and West has been ongoing since he interrupted her during her 2009 MTV Video Music Awards speech. Although able to move past from the historic moment, in 2016, West placed Swift in his song “Famous.” The lyrics included, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why?”

After receiving some backlash over the lyrics, West claimed Swift approved the verse. But a representative for the singer insisted Swift was not made aware of the lyrics. With Swift adding more fuel to the fire, it is only a matter of time before West responds.
