Los Angeles indie rockers Warpaint have dropped a new song from their upcoming third album Heads Up, out September 23.

“Whiteout” is a laid-back, upbeat track, in line with the new album’s lead single “New Song.” It features the four piece harmonizing over a danceable rhythm section from bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg and drummer Stella Mozgawa.

Heads Up was aimed to be more energetic than previous releases. Rather than record as a full ensemble, the band elected to record in pairs and alone to shake up the creative process.

“We’ve always had this really jammy, high-energy live show compared to some of our records,” said vocalist and guitarist Emily Kokal in a press release. “We all love to dance. We didn’t want to take away from the emotion or the core feeling of what our band is all about—which I don’t even think we could take out if we wanted, because it is who we are—but we wanted to bump the speed up and have a little bit more fun.”
