With all the turmoil happening in the world, at least we can still enjoy tender moments with two of the world’s most iconic crooners. Adele is currently wrapping up the very last shows of her Las Vegas residency at Caesar Palace before going on a lengthy hiatus. Considering the circumstances, there weren’t many dry eyes in the house. But Adele herself burst into tears upon seeing one particular audience member: iconic Canadian singer Celine Dion.

During the Saturday night show, Adele discovered Dion in the audience during a performance of the song “When We Were Young”. Upon spotting her, Adele quickly went to the front row and hugged her, and the tears started flowing. Dion was also visibly emotional.
When Adele returned to the stage, she wiped the tears from her eyes and told the audience that Dion is “one of [her] favorite people of all time.” She asked the audience to give Dion a standing ovation, which they promptly did.
Adele and Celine Dion’s Touching Moment Couldn’t Have Come at a Better Time
It was quite an emotional scene for a number of reasons. Dion went public with her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome back in 2022, and her recent documentary I Am: Celine Dion chronicled her battle with the illness. For quite a while, Dion said that she was unsure if she would ever be able to sing again.
Luckily, it looks like Dion is doing well. She recently performed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which marked her first public performance since her diagnosis in 2022. Dion has been seen out and about in public more often nowadays, which has earned a collective sigh of relief from her fans. However, it’s unclear if Dion will be able to record music or tour as extensively as she used to in the wake of her progressive illness.
Though, Dion seems optimistic. In an interview from earlier this year, Dion said that she will “sing again” no matter what.
“I want to go back on stage,” Dion said in the interview. “I need to know if I can. They [the fans] need to know that I love them, and I miss them.”
One can’t help but see a few parallels between Adele and Dion: Both are incredible musicians who could possibly end their singing careers in the coming years for very different reasons. At the very least, we were lucky enough to be part of the same timeline as both of them.
