Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band launched a new North American tour leg on Saturday with a concert at the Humphreys venue in San Diego. The trek follows a brief series of shows that the famed Beatles drummer and his group played in the U.S. and Mexico in May and June of this year.
The All Starr Band lineup for the outing features Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, Men at Work frontman Colin Hay, and Average White bassist Hamish Stuart, as well as drummer Gregg Bissonette and multi-instrumentalist Warren Ham. In addition, veteran keyboardist Buck Johnson is back with the band after stepping in for an ailing Edgar Winter during the last tour leg.

To celebrate the new tour, Starr posted a video on his social media pages giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at one of their rehearsals.
The clip starts off with footage of Ringo singing Carl Perkinsโ classic 1957 rock โnโ roll tune โMatchbox.โ It was a song that The Beatles covered for their 1964 album Something New.
Starr also is captured showing off a small drum kit that heโs playing on the current tour, which he explained was the same model as the one he played during The Beatlesโ historic 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.
โI had the small kit because I wanted to be seen,โ Ringo noted. โBut then I had that great idea. [I said,] โWhy donโt you give me a rostrum?โ And they built the rostrum, and Iโm up there having a great time.โ
Starr then demonstrated his drumming skills by pounding out a Bo Diddley beat on the drum kit.
Starr Shared a Brief Update About His Next Album
Meanwhile, Starr recently announced that his next new musical project will be a full-length country album that heโs been recording with acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett. A new press release reveals that Ringo will be announcing official details about the album in October.
Starrโs most recent release was Crooked Boy, a four-track EP that came out in April. Crooked Boy features songs written and produced by Linda Perry.
