Watch Sia Perform “Bird Set Free” on Kimmel from SXSW

Sia on Jimmy Kimmel Live

With South by Southwest kicking off the music portion of its festival this week, Australian singer-songwriter Sia’s performance of “Bird Set Free” from Austin was broadcast on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night. The Grammy-nominated artist’s performance was part of the Galaxy Life Fest at SXSW.

For the performance, Sia – whose face was covered with her iconic oversized wig – was backed by a male dancer who moved across the stage as the singer belted out her song’s anthemic chorus. Watch the emotive performance below.

“Bird Set Free” is a single off of Sia’s seventh studio album, This Is Acting, which was released in February. The song was originally pitched to Rihanna and recorded by Adele, before ultimately not making the final cut for the latter’s 25 and being reclaimed by Sia (via Rolling Stone).

Sia’s next stop after SXSW will be Coachella, followed by a number of festival dates later in 2016.
