Behind the Meaning of Sabrina Carpenter’s Cinema-Inspired “Juno”

In “Juno,” Sabrina Carpenter is so in love that she’s dreaming about starting a family with her partner. Though she has many sexually charged tracks, few are as committed as this one. What screams “commitment” more than having a baby? Carpenter uses that example to let her partner know just how in deep she is. Uncover the meaning behind this track, below.

Behind the Meaning of Sabrina Carpenter’s Cinema-Inspired “Juno”

Don’t have to tell your hot a** a thing
Oh yeah, you just get it
Whole package, babe, I like the way you fit
God bless your dad’s genetics, mm, uh

Carpenter isn’t afraid of an innuendo. She uses many of them in her music. However in “Juno,” Carpenter skips all of the nuance and instead opts for something far more straightforward. Her partner just gets it. Their connection takes very little explaining. It’s enough to have Carpenter fantasizing about being more.

You make me wanna make you fall in love
Oh, late at night, I’m thinking ’bout you, ah-ah
Wanna try out my fuzzy pink handcuffs?
Oh, I hear you knockin’, baby, come on up

While this song is flushed in young love, Carpenter dreams of starting a family. The title is taken from the 2007 movie of the same name. In the plot, the main character must deal with the trials of teen pregnancy. This song is a lose adaptation of that story.

“That is the Juno I’m referring to,” Carpenter recently explained of this track. “I’m not referring to Mount Juneau, because some people have asked me, I’m like, ‘No, it’s the pregnant one.’”

If you love me right, then who knows? / I might let you make me Juno, she sings. Considering her earlier statement about how her partner knows what makes her tick, we have to assume Carpenter is aiming for that path.

I know you want my touch for life
If you love me right, then who knows?
I might let you make me Juno
You know I just might
Let you lock me down tonight
One of me is cute, but two though?
Give it to me, baby
You make me wanna make you fall in love (Oh)

Adore me
Hold me and explore me
Mark your territory
