In addition to the track listing and songwriter credits, Johnson released a new song titled “That’s Texas” ahead of the project. The infectious, fast-paced country tune was written by Dylan, Andy Sheridan, and Wyatt McCubbin. The feel-good ode to Texas namedrops country music staples (and Texas natives) George Strait and Robert Earl Keen. That’s Texas with a capital T / If I can’t go to heaven I’ve got a plan B / And that’s Texas, Johnson croons.

“This round of songs, I have to say, is the best round of songs I have ever recorded and I feel like that’s the way it should be,” Johnson previously said about Leather in a press statement. “Each album should outdo the last one.”

The Texas crooner’s previous album, Human: The Double Album, was released in October 2021. The project featured the Grammy Award-winning No. 1 single “Til You Can’t.” The song also garnered trophies for Single and Video of the Year at the 2022 CMA Awards.
