Growing up in Oklahoma, Wyatt Flores learned to love music thanks to his father being a drummer for a local band. Turning that love into passion, the singer eventually sought to leave his mark on the music industry. And with Flores only spending a few years in country music, he released his debut studio album Welcome to the Plains on October 18th. Gaining praise for the song and watching his stardom grow, it seems that the singer isn’t a fan of his own music as he decided to ask a DJ to turn his song off.

Wyatt Flores Doesn’t Want to Hear Himself
While not afraid to get on stage and perform in front of thousands of fans, some artists can’t stand the sound of their own voices. Seeming to be part of that group, a video surfaced showing Flores enjoying himself when he hears his voice over the speakers. Not waiting for the song to end, the singer decided to take matters into his own hands as he declared, “I’m gonna go tell them to shut the f**k up.”
Grinning at the camera, Flores walked through the bar, finding his way to the DJ. Once there, he told the DJ, “Hey is there anyway we can change the song?” Deciding to take an easier approach than his initial comment, Flores watched as the DJ hesitated for a moment. What made the interaction even better was the fact that the DJ had no idea he was speaking with the singer of the song.
After a few seconds, the DJ gave in and asked Flores what he would like to hear. Thinking about it for a moment, the singer said, “Can you play anything by Tyler Childers?” While trying to gain stardom in country music, it appeared that Flores was also a big fan of Childers.
Flores More Than A TikTok Artist
Although hoping to hold the spotlight for the decades to come, Flores took a moment to thank his father for his support when it came to music. Speaking with NPR, the singer insisted, “Without my dad and him teaching me in our shop and our garage, of sitting there and learning how a band really operates, I don’t believe that I’d be sitting in this chair because, you know, so much of today’s music is – they call them TikTok artists. And I mean, yeah, in a way, I’m using everything that I possibly can to get recognized, and TikTok is just another tool of platform.”
Discussing the difference between singers and TikTok artists, Flores concluded, “What’s different from a TikTok artist and a real artist is when they go and play live, and if they can. And I’m very lucky that I had the background that I do and my dad being able to sit there and me and him just jam out.”
