Don’t Have a “Meltdown”—Niall Horan Shares New Music

Niall Horan is steadily releasing singles, giving fans something to hold on to while they wait for the release of his third album, The Show, on June 9. The latest single is a driving, pop banger titled “Meltdown.”

Horan shared the tune on Friday (April 28). “The song is basically about feeling anxious and being in that kind of freaking out moment but knowing deep down that everything will be alright,” Horan wrote on Instagram after announcing the single.

Mirroring that idea, the song is equal parts provoking and soothing. Sonically, the track will make you feel like you’re going 100 miles an hour. Lyrically, it feels like a warm hug in the face of darkness.

One broken glass / Turns to total collapse / Just know this too shall pass / I’m tellin’ you now, tellin’ you now / When it all melts down, I’ll be there, he sings in the chorus.

Listen to the track, below.

Prior to “Meltdown,” Horan released “Heaven.” The lead single is an opulent, harmony-driven anthem about taking life at your own pace.

“One thing I’ve learned over the years is that society loves to pressure us into reaching certain milestones by a certain age,” Horan explained of “Heaven.” “Whether that’s getting married or anything else that really should be based on our own instincts. As I’ve gotten older I’ve tried to let go of those expectations and just follow my heart.”

“The chorus of this song is saying that what I have in my life currently is amazing. So it would be crazy to ruin that by giving in to outside pressures,” he continued.

The Show will be the follow-up to Horan’s 2020 album, Heartbreak Weather. Judging by the singles thus far, “The Show” will sound quite different than its predecessor.

“Thank you so much for being there for me all this time and I can’t wait to share the next couple of years of this new era with you. I’ve missed you all so much,” Horan said in a statement. “It’s good to be back. Welcome to The Show.”
