Tucked away in Amoeba Music’s archives for decades, the upcoming 16-track vinyl pressing documents one of the influential band’s final concert performances.

“This has been such an incredible labor of love by all involved,” Polly Parsons, daughter of the late singer/songwriter, shared in a statement. “Everyone coming together and moving Gram’s music forward in such a meaningful way. It’s time to celebrate the music and joy he brings the world for sure. And what a wonderful treasure this project has been to do just that. I truly hope you enjoy it.”

“‘The Last Roundup’ features Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris at their absolute finest,” adds Amoeba Music Co-Founder Dave Prinz. “The only live club show of Gram ever released and unheard for over 50 years, this performance sparkles with incredible beauty and energy. For all of those who never got to experience Gram live, this is the closest we’ll ever get to being there.”

The intimate magic of this rare live material shines especially bright on “Love Hurts,” which serves as the LP’s lead single. Emmylou Harris’s perfectly melded vocals infuse power and emotion into the performance, backed by fellow band members Neil Flanz (pedal steel guitar), Kyle Tullis (bass), Jock Barkley (lead guitar), and ND Smart II (drums).

Parsons and Harris’s captivating rendition of “Love Hurts” became one of the standout tracks on Parsons’ second solo album, Grievous Angel, released four months after his death in 1973. In the decades since his passing, “Love Hurts” has also become a staple of Harris’s own live shows.
