As March 29 steadily approaches, when Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 release their unit-specific versions of Guitar Hero: Metallica, additional release information continues to surface. An obvious spelling error quickly overshadowed yesterday’s much-awaited release of the artwork for the new music video game.

The video game cover lists the names of the other bands appearing in the game, while prominent Guitar Hero and Metallica logos cover the center section. The listing on the cover starts with Mercyful Fate, System of a Down, Queen, and Alice in Chains, then continues with a full record of additional bands selected by Metallica. That is, until about halfway down the cover when the band Lynyrd Skynyrd’s name appears, minus its fourth “y.” Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Tuesday’s Gone” from their first album will appear on the video game.

In addition to the cover release, recent press announcements also reveal that Motorhead frontman and bassist Lemmy Kilmister will appear as an animated character in the game. Players will have the option to play as Kilmister or watch him perform on Motorhead’s re-recorded track for the game, “Ace of Spades.”

When it becomes available for purchase in a few weeks, the game will feature 45 tracks from Metallica in addition to at least twenty tracks provided by other artists.
