Lainey Wilson Serves up an NFL Thanksgiving Halftime Show That Will Make Dolly Parton Proud

This Thanksgiving, Lainey Wilson stunned football fans and viewers at home with a sparkling halftime show during the New York Giants-Dallas Cowboys game. Taking over where Dolly Parton left off last year.

Wilson, donning her iconic bell bottoms and cowboy hat drenched in Dallas white and stars, kicked off the show with “Heart Like a Truck.” Flexing her powerful vocals, Wilson then shifted into the fast-paced “Hang Tight Honey.” Accompanied on stage by Cowboys cheerleaders, Wilson proceeded to deliver a rousing version of “4x4xU.”

And if that wasn’t enough, Wilson was then joined by a surprise guest. Country superstar Jelly Roll took the stage alongside Wilson to perform the hit song “Save Me.”

Wilson announced her involvement in the halftime show in October, showing up in a social media video with the famed Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Wearing a sparkly blue bell-bottomed get-up adorned with a Salvation Army patch, she shared that she would be featured during the Salvation Army Red Kettle Kickoff halftime show.

“Lainey Wilson here,” she said, โ€œtraining to be an honorary Dallas Cowboys cheerleader or the Salvation Armyโ€™s Red Kettle Kick-Off halftime show. You might know me for my bell bottoms, but I want to be known for bell ringing too!โ€

Lainey Wilson Takes Over From Dolly Parton’s Iconic Halftime Show Last Thanksgiving

Wilson continued, โ€œI am so excited to announce that I have teamed up with the Salvation Army to love beyond the holidays and make a difference in our communities all year round.โ€ She then made an impressive attempt at a high kick line with the cheerleaders, possibly making her the first person to do it in bell bottoms.

Last Thanksgiving, country legend Dolly Parton took to the stage during halftime in her own bedazzled version of a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader uniform. He donned platform heels as well to complete the ensemble, and while some viewers thought it was a bit over the top, many of Parton’s fans were supportive and enchanted by her performance and iconic look. It wouldn’t be Dolly Parton if she didn’t turn a few heads and cause a little scandal, after all.

According to Holler Country, during Lainey’s rehearsal, a message from Parton appeared on the Jumbotron at AT&T Stadiumโ€”from none other than Parton herself.

“A little birdie told me that you were going to be doing the half-time show for the Dallas Cowboys this year, Parton said. “Well, I’m excited to pass the Salvation Army bell to you as this year’s Red Kettle Kick-Off half-time performer”

It’s safe to say Lainey made her hero Dolly proud with this one, making the field her own.
