Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder Welcomes Daughter to the Stage for Special Duet of Taylor Swift’s “The Best Day”

For nearly 40 years, Eddie Vedder traveled the world performing with groups like Temple of the Dog. But for most, they remember the musician for his time in the iconic rock band Pearl Jam. Loing his time with the band and what they produced together, the rockstar watched as they gained entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2017. But recently, Vedder welcomed his daughter, Harper, to the stage for a special performance of Taylor Swift’s “The Best Day.” But given his background, Vedder was sure to add in a little Pearl Jam.

Headlining the 2024 Ohana Fest in Dana Point, California, Pearl Jam received the chance to not only open the festival but close it out as well. During the end of the festival, Vedder took a moment to praise the lineup, which consisted of Maren Morris, Jenny Lewis, Alanis Morissette, and even Sting. He then turned the conversation towards his daughter, explaining, “I realized it’d been a while since we had a powerful young woman up on stage with us, so my pal Harper here is gonna help me out.”

Although a little nervous, Harper quickly found her footing as Vedder started with Pearl Jam’s “Last Kiss.” But for Harper, she decided to sing “The Best Day.” The audience watched as the two alternated the songs.

Besides getting the chance to perform with his daughter, Vedder also took a moment to praise Swift. Just last Summer, the rockstar took his family to see Swift in concert. He insisted, “She’s an artist who’s respectful of her audience and I know from my daughter that she’s really kind of incredible at planting these little … hidden codes that they can pick up. And then all of a sudden, it activates all those people that are listening, and has them involved in it.”

Honoring Swift’s dedication to her music and fans, Vedder continued, “I think it’s done in a very creative way — she changes it up and there’s talk about what she played that night.” As for Swift herself, the singer noted, “She’s incredibly prolific. So she’s able to just keep putting out music and putting out music.”
