Rock Band 2 has been available for use on XBOX 360 since September 14, and as of the 19, the game is now available for Playstation 3 systems. With upcoming plans to release the music video game for Wii and Playstation 2 in December, Harmonix has sweetened its offering in an effort to compete with Guitar Hero World Tour, which hits stores on October 26. Starting on November 4, any gamer who currently owns Rock Band 2 will have free access to 20 songs recorded by up-and-coming artists. Users will be able to download these tracks by using a secret code, provided in the Rock Band 2 instruction manual.

Speaking about the artists on the list, MTV’s Senior Vice President of Electronic Games and Music, Paul DeGrooyer said, “The Rock Band platform is an unparalleled destination for music discovery – offering a broad cross section of rock, from iconic rock artists to emerging bands.” DeGrooyer also noted that, “With the addition of the 20 new songs we’re announcing today, owners of Rock Band 2 will have the ability to experience music from over 100 artists – ranging from the acts they already know and love to up-and-coming bands we think they will like.”
